PTFA

Why do we have a PTFA?

Our school PTFA provides links between home and school, and it is an excellent way to bring staff, parents, guardians, and friends together to support the school. All parents, carers and members of the school community are encouraged to get involved, even if they only have a small amount of time available.

Charitable status

As a charity we must abide by Charity Commission rules and regulations, and we are bound by a governing document referred to as our “Constitution”. Our constitution sets out the rules about how we operate as the PTFA and how we conduct ourselves financially.

Role of the Committee

The PTFA committee currently consists of: Chair or Co-Chairs, Treasurer and Secretary, and then volunteer committee members, all of whom are trustees. The committee meet on a regular basis, usually once per month, with smaller working groups meeting as necessary when we are planning larger events. If you are interested in becoming a member of our committee, please do let the school know. We hold our Annual General meeting in the autumn term and this date is published for all to attend.

Funds raised

Funds are raised through the events that we run. Some of our most popular events during 2023-2024 were:

  • Santa's Breakfast
  • School Disco
  • Themed non-uniform days, with toy, plant and cake sales
  • Superwoman and Superman events

It is at our PTFA trustee meetings that the decisions on how to spend the money are agreed, in partnership with requests from the school. Funds raised are spent on the ‘extras’ that are not provided by the school’s budget, thus making our children’s learning experiences so much more fulfilling and exciting.
