Year 3

Year 3 is made up of 2 classes of 21 ( Robins ) and 22 ( Wrens) . The Year 3 staff Team is made up of Miss Barney, Mrs Goodwin, Mrs Andrews and Mrs Whatton.

We aim to try and make it as easy as possible for the children to adjust to the higher expectations of the Year 3 Curriculum as well as easing them into life in a bigger school and being part of the Studley Juniors Family.

We follow the White Rose Scheme for Maths, supported by Times Tables Rock Stars to increase our children's fluency as early as possible and instil a love of Maths in them which we hope will stay for life! English is delivered using a variety of short texts, sourced from both fiction and non- fiction and we spend a lot of time reading with and reading to the children , across the whole curriculum. Children are screened as soon as they join us and, if required, become part of our Rapid Catch-Up Reading programme as soon as we have identified where they need extra support.

PE is delivered on Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays and includes swimming lessons at the Studley Pool to ensure all children develop this very critical life skill before they leave us.

We are currently developing our enrichment opportunities, and currently have a trip to the church , outdoor learning in Science and a visit to a Hindu Temple planned. More to follow...
