Welcome to Year 4!

There are two classes in year 4 (Kingfishers and Woodpeckers), with approximately 25 children in each class. Both classes receive a carefully planned curriculum in line with the national curriculum expectations. Activities are consistent in both classes, allowing collaborative work across the year group. The children work in mixed ability groups for all lessons with support put in place across the two classes as it is required. 

Whiterose Maths is used to focus the teaching in mathematics, providing the children with clear visual models for mathematical concepts, a focus on fluency and the ability to apply their knowledge through reasoning and problem-solving activities. 
We use writing models to support our children in developing their understanding of different writing structures, and support this with whole class texts, ranging from Alice in Wonderland to How to Train Your Dragon.  

We work closely with families and can be contacted through ClassDojo. We value the support of families and acknowledge that it is only by working together that children are truly successful.

PE Days are Tuesdays and Fridays in Kingfishers, and Monday and Fridays in Woodpeckers.
