Welcome to our Governing Body

Governors

Each school in a state system has a Governing Body. The Governing Body plays a key role in helping oversee the strategic direction of the school and works in partnership with the Headteacher and Senior Management Team.

The Studley St Mary’s Governing Body is made up of Foundation Governors, Parent Governors, Community Governors and Staff Governors plus the Vicar of Studley Parish Church. We meet six times a year as a Local Governing Body; our joint aim is to make sure the school provides the best education and learning experience possible so that our children can achieve their full potential, both academically and personally. We serve the Governing Body for a 4 year term after which we are eligible for re-election.

Parent and staff governors are elected, except for the Headteacher who holds an ex-officio staff governor position on the local governing body. Parent governors must have a child currently at the academy to be eligible; Staff governors must be employed at the academy. Community governors are nominated by the local governing body and appointed by the MAT. Foundation governors are nominated by the parochial church council (PCC) and appointed by the Diocesan Board of Education. One foundation position is reserved for a member of the clergy from the parish in which the academy exists.
